HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR INVISALIGN ALIGNERS
If you’ve recently made the decision to permanently correct your smile using Invisalign, then it’s important that you discuss proper care for your Invisalign trays with your Belmont Dental dentist. While Invisalign devices may be easier to care for than traditional braces, they do require a certain degree of maintenance during the treatment process. Here is a guide to caring for your Invisalign aligners:
Always Remove Before a Meal or Snack
One of the most important things to remember about wearing Invisalign aligners is that you must remove them before eating anything. It’s also a good idea to remove them when drinking liquids other than water, since sugars from beverages like soda and juice can become trapped underneath the aligners and make their way into gums and tooth crevices.
Clean Aligners Daily
Each time you brush your teeth, be sure to also rinse out your Invisalign aligners. The best way to get them nice and clean is to brush them just as you would your normal teeth and then rinse them in a bit of warm water. You can also clean your Invisalign trays using the specially designed Invisalign cleaning kit, which you can obtain during a visit to your Belmont Dental cosmetic dentist.
Keep Track of Aligners After Removal
In addition to cleaning your Invisalign aligners and removing them before eating and drinking sugary liquids, it is essential that you always keep track of your aligners when you take them out. If you play sports and need to remove your aligners in order to wear your mouth guard, then be sure to place the Invisalign aligners in their proper container. Be sure to also avoid placing your aligners in a napkin or on your plate when you remove them to eat, since you could accidentally end up throwing them away.
