
Meet Dr. John H. Lapidus
Following in the footsteps of his father, Dr. Charles Lapidus, and grandfather, Dr. Frank Lapidus, Dr. John H. Lapidus is now a third-generation dentist. He practices comprehensive dentistry with expertise in cosmetic dentistry, prosthodontics, root canal therapy, and sleep apnea treatment. He serves both adults and children.
Dr. Lapidus has dedicated his career to the artful restoration and replacement of natural teeth. He focuses on maximizing function, comfort, esthetic appeal, and overall oral health. He is especially skilled in caring for anxious patients. His specialized techniques ensure dental visits are comfortable experiences even for the most fearful individuals.
Dr. Lapidus' journey to dentistry began at Tufts University. He completed his undergraduate studies there and continued his education at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, earning his dental degree in 1981. His commitment to clinical excellence was recognized when he was named Best of Boston for general dentistry in 2021.
Dr. Lapidus has maintained a strong connection to academic dentistry throughout his career. Since 1991, he has served as a clinical instructor at Harvard School of Dental Medicine's Department of Restorative Dentistry and as an associate clinical instructor at Boston University School of Dental Medicine's Department of Oral Diagnosis. His teaching prowess has earned him recognition as both best part-time lecturer by his students and best part-time faculty member by his colleagues at Harvard Dental School. He also serves as chief dental consultant at The McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA, and has been elected president of the Harvard Odontological Society.
His professional affiliations reflect his commitment to staying at the forefront of dental innovation. He is an active member of the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS), the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, the Middlesex Dental Society, and the Harvard Odontological Society. He is also a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, where he holds qualified dentist status.
Beyond the dental chair, Dr. Lapidus cherishes time with his growing family and friends, enjoys rounds of golf, and appreciates fine cuisine.
