When done properly, flossing can help you avoid tooth decay and gum disease, but are you doing it the right way? Your flossing technique can prevent the decay that could lead to a root canal or even tooth loss, so talk to your dentist about how to floss properly. This video highlights some of the mistakes people make when they floss. When you floss, be careful not to snap the floss against your gums. Floss between every tooth and the back sides of your last teeth, using a clean section of floss each time so you don't transfer bacteria.
